Französisch-schweizerische Malerin und international bekannte Bildhauerin der Moderne, die vor allem durch ihre Nana-Figuren Bekanntheit erlangte: "Ich war vollkommen überrascht, dass sie so eine Empörung auslösten. Ich glaube zwar nicht, dass die Nanas meine besten Werke sind, aber ich habe damit den Zeitgeist getroffen. Der Feminismus kam gerade auf, und auch wenn ich nie offiziell in der Frauenbewegung war, bin ich durch und durch Feministin. Das war in meinem Leben immer ein starker Motor. Und wenn man sich meine Generation anguckt, da bin ich vielleicht die Künstlerin, die die größten Skulpturen gebaut hat.
