Sheet 35 (of originally 100) from the graphic collection "Ecce Homo", Berlin 1923; shortly after publication of the work George Grosz had to stand trial for "dissemination of lewd writings", whereupon several sheets were removed from the portfolio.
German-American painter, graphic artist, caricaturist and war opponent, who became one of the most important German satirists through social criticism in the 1920s: "There is a belief in the sole-sacrifice private initiative.
