Small woven carpet BAUHAUS.
Probably around 1930.
Various colored wools. Interlocked, partly arched knitting in sumakh technique, partly slit, looping contour bands. Approx. 108 x 57 cm.
Single piece made in various knitting techniques. Stylized depiction of a street with perspective staggered view of lanterns and people of a city. Narrow sides with white kilim finishes and knotted fringes. Signs of age and wear, minor fabric defects.
Probably a piece from the Bauhaus textile workshop, which was led by Gunta Stölzl from 1927 onwards and in which, among other things, abstract, geometric, but also figurative art forms and art techniques from other parts of the world were used as an orientation.
