Very large medallion carpet HERIZ.
Ca. 1910/20. Northwest Persia. Plaque "Museum Schloß Burgk 1679".
Wool, hand-knotted. Polychrome decoration with predominantly red and blue tones, Abrash. Approx. 340 x 470 cm.
In the cherry-red mirror a midnight-blue diamond medallion with central star motif surrounded by symmetrically arranged floral vines and foliage. Corner spandrels with corresponding white ground quarter medallions. A multi-row border with a dark blue main border, large rosettes and serrated leaves. Heavily geometricized floral-pattern style. Signs of age and wear, slightly faded coloring, defects to selvedges and fringed finishes.
