Expressively painted slender trees on lush meadows in front of the mountains. Slight traces of age.
If Adolf Hölzel, then: German painter, protagonist of abstraction and pioneer of modernism (1853 Ölmütz/Moravia - 1934 Stuttgart), studied at the Vienna Academy by Wurzinger, Griepenkerl and Eisenmenger. Pupil in Munich of Barth and W. Diez. Co-founder of the school "Neu-Dachau". Later he became professor in Stuttgart, where the 'Hölzel circle' was established. His pupils include Max Ackermann, Ida Kerkovius, Oskar Schlemmer and Emil Nolde.
