Art Nouveau armchair, design Richard Riemerschmid. German Workshops for Craftsmanship Dresden-Hellerau.

Solid oak and stained. H ca. 83,5 cm, seat height ca. 47 cm.
Geometrically linear designed armchair with curved board shoulder and 2 slightly flared armrests, 4 tapering pillar legs, seat upholstered and with brown leather cover with decorative nailing, variant of the "Hellerau chair", design no. 227 b, 420.3. Signs of age/use, plywood back with small dry cracks, upholstery and cover supplemented.
German architect, designer and university lecturer; counted among the important artists of Art Nouveau, whose novel "machine furniture" designs in clear, austere forms were aimed at largely machine production and thus equally affordable for the masses.
