Baroque grandfather clock with eye turner "William Harris Salop".
England. Circa 1800.
brass movement with hour strike on bell, function not tested, revision recommended. "Will[ia]m Harris, Salop" inscribed brass dial with floral and figural applications, Roman hours and Arabic minutes, small seconds and date indication at 6, Louis XV iron hands. In the round arch field a male portrait as an eye turner.
Walnut and other woods, veneered and inlaid. Approx. 222 x 45 x 25 cm.
Two-part case with 3-sided glazed straight top with lateral columns, slender pendulum case and projecting base. Round arches, carved decorative elements and two-tone ribbon inlays. Restored, with additions, partial defects.
Crank, ropes, 2 lead weights, small disc pendulum, case key.
