Peter Strang designed the sculpture after experiencing the feature film "Utz" on the occasion of the Berlinale 1992. The sculpture shows the passionate collector Baron von Utz with figures of the "Commedia dell'arte" designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler for the porcelain manufactory Meissen. The figure represents actor Armin Müller-Stahl, who stars in the film as Baron Kaspar Joachim von Utz.
