Bronze black patinated, bronze plinth. / tempera / canvas, oak frame. Bronze inscribed, titled with life data as well as coat of arms, foundry mark "Guss v. A. Brandtstetter Munich". / Pedigree signed "Dr. Florian Hofmeister" with date "1880", verso dedication from Dr. Florian Hofmeister to his nephew Franz with date "1911". H 52 cm. 13,6 kg. / 74 x 49 cm, frame 90 x 64 cm.
Together with the stepped plinth and coat of arms cast portrait. Franz von Hofmeister was a German surgeon and university lecturer in Tübingen. He was ennobled in 1916 and was a member of the student fraternity Corps Rhenania Tübingen. / Pedigree from 1596 of the Hofmeister family in Rottenburg/Neckar with coat of arms. Bronze minimally soiled. Pedigree 1 small hole, numerous backstains, signs of age / wear.
Sculptor in Stuttgart, student of Taschner and Ruemann at the Academy ibid, prof. at the TH ibid. Created numerous large public sculptures, but also quite a few busts.
