Golden Savonette in original case. A. Lange & Söhne.

"A. Lange & Söhne Glashütte b[ei] Dresden" marked, grained gilt 3/4 plate movement, caliber 45, Glashütte lever escapement, regulator with swan neck fine adjustment, diamond cap jewel, screw compensation balance, blued Breguet hairspring, screwed chatons, crown winding, running. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, minute circle, small seconds and gold pear hands, marked "A. Lange & Söhne Glashütte-Sa.".
750 hallmarked, hallmark of fineness, company mark. Ø 5,5 cm. 129 g (weight gold case 76,2 g).
Smooth "basin" jump cover case with engraved city arms Mülheim an der Ruhr with crown and flanking lions (probably referring to the arms of Wilhelm Wyrich Daun (1648), Broich Castle), gold dust cover with dedication "The Municipality of Broich to your 1st Mayor L. Mentz for the 25th anniversary on 1t April 1903". Captain (ret.) Ludwig Mentz had been mayor of the municipalities of Broich, Speldorf and Saarn since 1878. The mayoralty of Broich was incorporated on 1.1.1904 in the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr. Minimal signs of age and wear.
In "A. Lange & Söhne" case with replacement spring, replacement glass and warranty certificate. Glashütte certificate dated 23.11.2021. Sold on 04.03.1903 to Fa. Gerl & Schipper, Cologne.
Provenance : Family heirloom. The clock belonged to the great-grandfather of the seller, the 1st mayor of the city of Broich, Ludwig Mentz. He passed it on within the family. The father of the seller, Hans Georg, received it in 1951.
