Timeless design classic with seat made of wicker. "Due to its aesthetic reduction in combination with the organic shape, it almost looks like a sculpture." Swiss architect Le Corbusier was enthusiastic about it and used it in many of his buildings, including the Weißenhof estate in Stuttgart in 1927. Bentwood is bent under steam by a process developed by Michael Thonet around 1830. After the privilege granted in 1856 to "manufacture furniture from solid bent wood" was canceled in 1869, numerous furniture factories were established - including J. & J. Kohn, which further developed the process so that equally angular wooden rods could be processed.
