Very finely painted cradle-shaped bowl. Vienna.
2nd half 19th century
enamel painting, brass gilded foot, lip rim covered with silver. 5 x 9.5 x 5.5 cm.
Box-shaped body resting on metal base with silver-trimmed scalloped rim. Fully covered with enamel painting: outside on the long sides Venus with putti, on the narrow sides putti with attributes of the arts. In the bottom lush floral ornament with putti and central cartouche with Cupid in the boat pulled by dolphins and doves. The interior walls are colorfully painted with floral vines, while the floor has thorn leaf vines in grisaille painting.
