Unusual reliquary box with St. George.
Probably 17th / 18th century Russia(?).
Silver gilt tested, gold 18 kt tested, opaque and translucent enamel. 7,5 (without eyelets) x 6,3 x 2,3 cm. 115 g.
High rectangular enkolpion with 2 Ösen and hinged Rück lid with pin catch. The front is a mounted gold plate with light relief enamel painting of the dragon tiger and blessing hand of God in one corner. The tanslucid green enamel of the background lies üover fluted engraved gold ground with Cyrillic inscription left standing. On the lid is a smaller gold plate in a similar enamel technique, which shows the Arma Christi cross. Inside is the Rück side of the dünnen front gold plate with machining marks and few enamel penetrations to see. chipping and craquelure on the enamel, front plate minimally punctured during manufacture and additionally mostly minimally plastered from the inside, some signs of age/use.
