German-Russian painter, studied architecture in Dresden, later working student of Arthur Lewin-Funcke, there among others also under Lovis Corinth. Afterwards student of Edmund Kesting. Was active against the National Socialists and was a political prisoner in the Waldheim penitentiary from 1942 to 1945. After 1945, active as a freelance artist, besides also in Leipzig as a teacher at the Academy of Visual Arts.
