Baroque silver tabatiere and baroque powder horn with hunting motifs.
13 Loth/Austria Hungary 1857/Meister JK(?) hallmarked. 18th c.
Silver with niello, gilt inside. / Horn both sides with blackened engraving. 2 x 8 x 3.5 or L 16 cm. Tabatiere 80 g.
Cuboid tabatiere with slightly indented walls; on the hinged lid fine niello work: depiction of a deer with animal in the forest framed by rocailles. Wall and base with cross/star repeat / powder horn with engraved motifs: red or wild boar hunting with hounds in front of leaf backgrounds. The stag hunt with motto: "The stag is caught / shot by hounds, there was (...) nothing but joy cherished". Gilding slightly rubbed. / Horn slightly rubbed, filler missing.
