Detailed map of the County of Mark with the Abbey of Essen and the Abbey of Wehrden, ornamental title cartouche "Le Comté de La Marck, Les Seigneuries des Abbayes de Werden, D'Essen, et de la Ville Imperiale de Dortmundt", supplementary cartouche with mileage markers; published in 1696 under Alexis Hubert Jaillot (1632 - 1712). Sheet more light browned.
French cartographer; considered the father of geography in France and was appointed royal mapmaker - he taught geography to the French kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV.
