Metal casting bronze patinated, stone base. Inscribed with double name, foundry mark "H. Noack Berlin". H 32 / 39 cm. 9,0 kg.
Psychologically captured portrait of a young woman. Minimal signs of age / use.
She learned as a private student with Gerhard Janensch in Berlin. As early as 1905, she made her debut with a portrait bust at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition, where she was also represented in 1916 and 1927. In 1914, after her marriage to the physician Professor Dr. Friedrich Matthaei, she moved to Hamburg. In 1930 Matthaei-Mitscherlich had a major solo exhibition at the Commeter Gallery; in 1948 she emigrated to America.
