German draughtsman, graphic artist, illustrator and photographer; one of the most outstanding German artists of the 20th century, the "Horst-Janssen-Museum" dedicated to him was opened in Oldenburg in 2000. "I am after the fleeting apparitions of this world in their changing disguises so that I could say at my funeral: 'I've seen it! And if I scream until then and in between, then: Leave me alone!"
