Dutch painter in Hilversum, Beek and Kleve (1803 Middelburg - 1862 Kleve), pupil of his father Joh. Herm., studied at the Amsterdam Academy. Founded his own academy in Kleve in 1834. He is considered one of the most important and successful landscape painters of the 19th century
