2 view cans. Josephinenhütte.
Count Schaffgotsch'sche Josephinenhütte, Schreiberhau. Design: around 1849/50. POHL, Franz (1813 - 1884)
Colorless glass with white overlay, fine polychrome enamel painting, gold decoration. H 14 cm.
Rectangular jars with lentil and notched decoration and 1x metal mount with sliding catch. Each with a rectangular cartouche on the front with the inscribed view of Erdmannsdorf Castle and the Elisenhalle in Salzbrunn in Silesia. Painting by Franz Julius Krause (1824-1891). 1 metal mount missing, 1x with edge bump, 1x with small bump on the stand, gold rubbed.
Jars of this type were luxury objects and very expensive with paintings of this quality. Salzbrunn belonged to the Prussian province of Silesia. Erdmannsdorf Castle was bought by the Prussian King Frederick William III (1770-1840) in 1831 and became the property of King Frederick William IV (1795-1861) after his death. These glasses were presumably made for the Hohenzollern family.
