Hip portrait of a young beauty in a black dress with a pearl necklace and gems on her belt. In the background a green curtain with gold trim. Very large "miniature" in an extremely subtle painting style, with the incarnate executed in a fine stippled manner.
Provenance : Formerly collection of Dr. Leo Catzenstein, Hanover, father of the artist Ellen Catzenstein. In the possession of his heirs until 2001. Auction Christie's London, November 6, 2001, lot 286.
