Bronze with red-brown patina, originally mounted on an ebonized oak panel. Inscribed "F. Barbedienne". 28.5 x 7.5 cm, panel 37 x 16 cm.
Spring nymph from the "Fontaine des Innocents" in Paris, created around 1550, whose sculptural decoration was created by Jean Goujon. Slightly stained patina in the background.
Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810 -1892 Paris) was an important bronze and furniture maker in Paris.
