Wall plate with bird from the "Ave Maria" series.
Ivory-colored ground, painted in cobalt blue and copper-colored lustre (metal lustrum). Ø 35 cm.
Plate decorated in the style of Valencian Gothic/Renaissance majolica with a central animal motif surrounded by ring circles and dots, with the invocation "Ave Maria Gratia Plena" in Gothic blue letters all around. Verso concentric circles. Slightly bumped at the rim on the underside, hairline cracks at the stand.
Provenance : From the Thuringian nobility. Restitution property with inventory number of the Altenburg Residential Palace, formerly part of the von der Gabelentz family collection at Poschwitz Castle.
