Grey, salt-glazed stoneware with incised decoration, painted in cobalt blue. H 37.5 and 39 cm.

Pear shape with ribbon handles, 1x with grooved cylinder neck. Minimal signs of age and wear.

The Westerwald stoneware offered in this auction was collected by Albrecht von der Gabelentz (1873-1933), chamberlain at the ducal court in Altenburg. He was appointed director of the Lindenau Museum in 1912. After the duke abdicated in 1918, Albrecht von der Gabelentz also took over the management of the palace museum on a voluntary basis. The collection was continued by his son Georg (1906-1954).
