Grey, salt-glazed stoneware with incised, model and stamped decoration, cobalt blue painting, partly dotted decoration. H 19.5 to 21 cm.

Cylinder jugs with eared handles and various artistic decorations. Each with a pewter lid and ball finial, partly engraved and hallmarked on the inside. Signs of age and wear, each with cracks, slightly bumped in places.

The Westerwald stoneware offered in this auction was collected by Albrecht von der Gabelentz (1873-1933), chamberlain at the ducal court in Altenburg. He was appointed director of the Lindenau Museum in 1912. After the duke abdicated in 1918, Albrecht von der Gabelentz also took over the management of the palace museum on a voluntary basis. The collection was continued by his son Georg (1906-1954).
