Female bust based on an antique model
Bronze, dark patina. Berlin late 19th century. Height: 26 cm.
Serpentine stone plinth with stepped round base. Berlin foundry mark: Aktien-Gesellschaft vormals Hermann Gladenbeck und Sohn. Plinth minimally bumped.
The bust was also cast by the Parisian fondeur F. Barbedienne, who reproduced the antique masterpieces in European museums from the 1840s onwards. After his business partner Achille Collas applied for a patent for a machine that could reproduce three-dimensional objects in any desired size * Partner auction Bergmann.
