German painter, draughtsman, book designer and printmaker (1925 Erfurt - 2005 ibid.). He was a co-founder of the "Erfurt Studio Community", which offered artists a place to exhibit who were unable to exhibit in the official cultural scene of the GDR. Mörstedt was also a student at the Master School of Applied Arts in Erfurt and the Weimar College of Architecture and Fine Arts under Kirchberger and Herbig, and later studied in Berlin-Weißensee. He tried out the art and technique of batik on his own and eventually worked in the textile industry in Vogtland before settling in Erfurt as a freelance painter and graphic artist.
