Peter Strang designed the sculpture after seeing the feature film "Utz" at the Berlinale in 1992. The sculpture shows the passionate collector Baron von Utz with figures from the "Commedia dell'arte" designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler for the Meissen porcelain manufactory. The figure represents the actor Armin Müller-Stahl, who plays the leading role in the film as Baron Kaspar Joachim von Utz.
