Baroque miner's glass.
2nd half 18th century Thuringia.
Colorless, greyish glass. H 15.5 cm. 170 g.
Bell-shaped dome with seven air bubbles pierced into the base, hollow baluster stem, the base with a turned-down rim; pontil mark. On the front of the cupola an engraved depiction of a medallion flanked by palm fronds with the motif of a miner with a hoe, above the slogan "Glück auf", verso vine tendrils.
Provenance : From the family estate of the Adolph Fuchs trading house in Schmalkalden, whose ancestors owned a mining, smelting and forging business in the 18th century.
