Ming period. China.
H 25 cm. 4.2 kg.
Guanyin, seated in meditation, on a double lotus throne. The palms in vitarka mudra, from which lotus stems grow, carrying a vase and a bird (parrot) on the shoulders. A tiny Buddha figure on the crown. Large parts of the gold and reddish-brown paint preserved. Hollow inside and also set in dark red.
