Impressionistic, briskly painted view, presumably of the Kiel Fjord, with impasto application of paint. Plain frame, painted in gray.

Burmester, landscape painter, studied at the academies in Düsseldorf and Karlsruhe. Pupil of Gustav Schönleber. 1889-1912 active in Kiel, from 1904 represented at exhibitions in Munich, Düsseldorf and Dresden. In 1908 he won the Villa Romana Prize and spent a year in Florence. From 1912 teaching at the academy in Kassel, 1917 professor, works in several German museums * Partner auction Bergmann.
