Neopolitan crib figure: man with dog on a pedestal.
Naples, 19th century
Wrapped wire body, ceramic head with glass eyes, visible limbs carved, each painted, clothing with lahn borders, brooch with lahn threads and cantillas, carved and painted dog, plaster capital, natural branch. Probably replaced wooden base, bronzed in gold and painted to resemble marble. H Standing figure 39 cm, total 45 x 27 x 27 cm. 1.9 kg.
Richly dressed, bald-headed man with a friendly facial expression and expressive hands as well as a walking stick with a silver-plated eagle pommel. On the base a dog, a capital and a wine balloon. Minimal paint flaking on one hand.
