Oil/wood. Unsigned, verso inscribed "Adriaen van Ostade" and two wax seals.
37.5 x 49.5 cm. Framed : 54.5 x 69.5 cm (dark wavy strip frame); 4 kg.
Typical work by the Dutch painter with a pictorial composition characterized by diagonals, which allows the houses to recede steeply into the background and thus provides a frame and a stage for the exuberant events of the celebrating peasants in the sunshine in front of the inn. Traces of age.
If Isaac van Ostade, then: Dutch genre and landscape painter, pupil of his brother Adriaen van Ostade, active in Haarlem. All lots with a limit (starting price) of at least €1,500 are checked against the Art Loss Register database.
