Brass, shade lacquered white on the inside, recessed black glass panes, base covered in leather, electrification with screw socket. 54 x 31 x 15 cm. 4.8 kg.
Base and shade identical with beveled front edges and recessed round glass panes in geometric ornament. Between stand and shade 3 square struts on each side. Surface somewhat tarnished. In working order.
Marcel Breuer was a Hungarian-American architect and designer who is considered one of the inventors of modern tubular steel furniture. Trained as a carpenter at the Bauhaus Weimar, in 1925 he became a young master craftsman and head of the furniture workshop at the Bauhaus Dessau.
