French Art Nouveau figure: "Muse"
Metal casting (Régule?) patinated in three colors, red marble plinth. Circa 1900. unmarked, titled and inscribed "par J. Caussé" on the base plate. 55 / 58 cm. 6.2 kg.
Beauty striding, as if floating, in a flowing robe, blowing a fanfare in an elegant pose. 2 fingers glued, patina mostly rubbed on the dress, 1 scratch on the arm.
Julien Caussé (1869 Burges - 1938 Bry-sur-Marne) studied under Alexandre Falguière. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris from 1888 to 1913 and also exhibited at the Universal Exhibition in 1900.
