German painter and graphic artist, initially attended the study courses at the Lewin-Funcke painting school with Hans Baluschek and Willy Jaeckel. He then studied at the Dresden Academy of Art under Dorsch and Feldbauer. Master student of Robert Sterl. Later lived as a freelance artist in Berlin. Left Germany in 1933. Together with Max Ernst, Otto Freundlich and Paul Westheim, he was one of the co-founders of the Collective of German Artists in Paris. Robert Liebknecht was the son of Karl Liebknecht.
