Westerwald cider jug with incised decoration.
Unmarked. Late 18th century
Grey, salt-glazed stoneware with knibis and stamped decoration and painted in cobalt blue. H 29.5 cm. 1.3 kg.
Pear-shaped with grooved neck and stand, fluted band handle with voluted handle base. Ornate decoration with incised decorative bands and floral tendrils. Pewter lid with shell pusher, engraved and dated "IB 1800". Fine cracks to the mouth, handle and stand area, bumped spout.
