Finely painted, endearingly contemplative genre scene from rural Tyrolean folk life. Profiled flambeau frame. Parquetry, two horizontal hairline cracks.
Marr (Joseph Heinrich Ludwig), genre painter, pupil of Christoffer Suhr and Friedrich Rosenberg. Based in Munich from 1825, where he was a private pupil of Peter von Hess, Heinrich Bürkel and Joseph Petzl. Painted scenes from Upper Bavarian, Tyrolean and Italian folk life, works in various German museums * Partner auction Bergmann.
