Art deco table lamp.
"Sculp(teur) Mec(anique) A(chille) Collas" marked. 19th century / 1930s.
Bronze, frosted glass, electrification with cable switch and screw socket. H 62 cm. 4.1 kg.
High bronze base, decorated all around with antique relief (hair sacrifice scene?). Faceted glass body with stepped finial above the top with lattice. Probably electrified kerosene lamp. Disciples wired, working.
Achille Collas (1795 Paris - 1859 ibid.) was a French engraver, copperplate engraver and mechanic. Around 1836, he developed a machine with which it was possible to reproduce large sculptures in a reduced format with mathematical precision. In 1838, he joined forces with Barbedienne and together they produced numerous replicas of famous masterpieces.
