Fighting gladiator
Dark brown patinated bronze, beige marble base. Inscribed, "Akt=Ges: v. H. Gladenbeck u. Sohn.". H 17 / 24 cm. 2.2 kg.
Nude swordsman advancing his sword in a lunge with a bandage in his hair and a leaf in front of his shame. Sword slightly bent, patina somewhat rubbed/spotted.
German sculptor, studied at the Berlin Academy under Ernst Herter. He worked for porcelain manufacturers including Schwarzburger Werkstätten, KPM Berlin and Rosenthal.
