Angel of Victory
Patinated bronze. Inscribed, foundry mark "Susse Frères Editeurs Paris", titled in French on the base front: "Sur le champ du labeur, la victoire est feconde". H 23 cm. 1.4 kg.
An angel standing triumphantly on the clouds with drawings, ears of corn and a cogwheel, his hand pointing to the sky while holding a staff in his right hand. Staff broken off, patina rubbed with a few deep nicks.
Picault was a sculptor and medallist in Paris, a pupil of Royer.
