Micromosaic pendant with architectural depiction.
Tested yellow gold 585. 42.17 x 34.85 mm (measured without eyelet). 14,5 g.
Pendant with high-quality micromosaic depiction of the Temple of Hercules Victor (also known as the "Round Temple on the Tiber") on the Forum Boarium in Rome. The eyelet is rigid.
Micromosaics in various forms, but above all as jewelry, were extremely popular with travelers to Italy and especially Rome, especially around the middle of the 19th century. Motifs that took up or replicated the famous mosaic of the "Doves of Pliny" and depicted famous (Roman) monuments of antiquity were particularly popular. Minimal, barely visible wear on the edge of the mosaic.
