Provenance : Handwritten ownership inscription ‘Bertha Jaffé’. The Art Loss Register check revealed no concerns/no history of expropriation. Probably Bertha Anna Jaffé, born 16 February 1891 in Manchester, UK, resident at Am Gut Sandfort near Osnabrück from the 1930s until her death, where her daughter remained in residence. The book was purchased by the current owners (a family of collectors) before 1999 at the forementioned location, presumably from descendants of Bertha Jaffé.
