Rare Art Nouveau clock case with Pallas Athena. Meissen.

Height: 46 cm.
Athena: goddess of wisdom and strategy, patroness of the arts and sciences. Painted in color, gold painted, Peerless movement with key winding, brass dial with black Arabic numerals in relief. Unglazed base, incised mark, press mark, painter's mark, sword mark. Partial small glaze defects, key missing.
* Wiegand, painter, sculptor and modeller, studied at the academy in Dresden. Freelance artist in Munich from 1888. 1906-1909 worked as a freelancer for the Meissen manufactory, creating figures, vessels and decorations during this time. Resident and active in Munich again from 1910. All lots with a limit (starting price) of at least €1,500 are checked against the Art Loss Register database.
