* Masereel, important Belgian artist, painter, watercolorist, draughtsman, caricaturist, graphic artist, illustrator, publisher, lecturer, studied at the academy in Ghent, active in Paris from 1910. 1915-1921 worked in Switzerland, after 1940 in Avignon and Nice. 1947-1951 Professor at the Academy in Saarbrücken, 1953 President of the Societé Internationale des Graveurs sur Bois XYLON in Zurich. Regularly represented at numerous international exhibitions, works in international museums.
