/ Johann Reinhold Forster (* October 22, 1729 in Dirschau, Royal Prussia; † December 9, 1798 in Halle a.d. Saale) was a well-educated German natural scientist and explorer in the Age of Enlightenment, who also made significant contributions to ethnology. His official botanical author abbreviation is "J.R.Forst."
