Cast iron tobacco box in Empire shape.
Unmarked. Probably 20th century
Burnished iron, cedar wood. 17 x 14 x 11 cm. 1972 g.
Rectangular casket on lion's feet with fitted lid in flat roof shape and pine cone pommel. Very rich floral relief on all sides with central columns of flames flanked by griffins on the long sides. Inside cedar wood case with fitted lid in corresponding roof shape. Some small scratches, bluing partially damaged, slightly corroded inside.
Recast. Designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1791 - 1844) around 1820.
