Russian Baroque cup for Catherine II the Great. St. Petersburg.
2nd half 18th century Russia.
Colorless glass. H 23 cm.
Stone-faceted bell-shaped dome with pierced air bubbles at the base, honeycomb-faceted hollow baluster shaft, round foot;; pontil mark. On the front of the dome in a rocaille cartouche the carved portrait of Tsarina Catherine II, flanked by trophies, verso in a medallion with imperial eagle the ligature monogram "E A II" (= Ekaterina II Alexeyevna, Tsarina of Russia 1762-1796)).
