Art deco vase with iron mount. Daum Fréres & Louis Majorelle, Nancy.
Height: 17 cm.
Colourless thick-walled glass with light blue, azure blue and reddish brown powder meltings blown into an iron frame. Etched signature Daum Nancy with Lorraine cross and L. Majorelle.
* Majorelle, Louis, 1859 Toul - 1926 Nancy, cabinetmaker, painter and designer, son of Auguste, studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, took over his father's workshop in Nancy in 1879. 1901 co-founder and vice-president of the Ecole de Nancy. 1926 Alfred Lévy took over the management of the company, the Maison Majorelle closed in 1956.
