Large artist's flute vase. Meissen.
Molding 1923-1934. model no. C 102 (new mold no. 50398).
Height: 40 cm.
Mold model by Georg Fritzsche based on an East Asian model. Decor by Hugo Stein (1881-1930). Model year: 1726 (mold). Painted all over in cobalt blue underglaze, three reserves between a generously applied ornamental background: muses with lyre, theater mask and tambourine. Press mark, crossed swords mark with dot, artist's signet on the front. Upper quarters restored.
* Stein (Hugo Alexander), porcelain painter, studied at the academy in Dresden. 1912-1914 teacher at the drawing school of the Meissen manufactory, worked for the manufactory as a freelancer and self-designing artist.
